Replenish your spirit.

Replenish your spirit.

Are you feeling exhausted and want to replenish in body, mind and spirit?

19-21 October 2018

Phenomenal Woman Retreat… Walk to the sand at beautiful Killcare Beach. Refresh your spirit in the sea…

So many women that I talk to tell me how exhausted they feel. With the demands of work, family and the challenges of finding time for self care, you can feel so empty and tired. I didn’t create this retreat so that you have to fulfull another expectation and be ‘phenomenal’. I created it so that you could take time out, rest and then FEEL phenomenally GOOD! Inside of yourself…

I want you to meditate on the beach, paddle your toes in the salt water, find time for real conversations and to chill out. That is why I have created this beautiful weekend. Just for you. To retreat from the demands of life and to take time to focus on the most important person in the world… YOU.

You will be given the space to meditate, find stillness, listen to your heart and be in the company of like minded women. There will be healthy food, a gorgeous bedroom in a luxury beach house, crisp white sheets, gorgeous music, candles, the loving presence of other women and inspiring teaching to support you to find your own best answers. When you feel peaceful, answers arise organically…

And did I mention? There will be peace and space… plenty of peace and space

Please join me for a replenishing weekend. Email me now for more info and to secure your space!

I need to get final numbers in place now, so if you are considering joining us then please send me a message so that I can save you a space.

19-21 October 2018 with arrival from 4pm Friday and leave after lunch on Sunday by 3pm.

Let it Go

Let it Go

I love this poem given to me by a dear friend and colleage, Bernadette. Whenever I read it I am reminded to settle down, to allow life to happen instead of pushing and straining to ‘make it happen’. It really is at the heart of the Phenomenal Woman Retreat too which is about empowerment and letting go of the old so that what you truly want in your heart can become your springboard for living.

She Let Go She let go.

Without a thought or a word, she let go.

She let go of the fear. She let go of the judgments. She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head. She let go of the committee of indecision within her. She let go of all the ‘right’ reasons.

Wholly and completely, without hesitation or worry, she just let go.

She didn’t ask anyone for advice. She didn’t read a book on how to let go. She didn’t search the scriptures. She just let go. She let go of all of the memories that held her back. She let go of all of the anxiety that kept her from moving forward. She let go of the planning and all of the calculations about how to do it just right.

She didn’t promise to let go. She didn’t journal about it. She didn’t write the projected date in her Day-Timer. She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper. She didn’t check the weather report or read her daily horoscope. She just let go.

She didn’t analyse whether she should let go. She didn’t call her friends to discuss the matter. She didn’t do a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment. She didn’t call the prayer line. She didn’t utter one word. She just let go.

No one was around when it happened. There was no applause or congratulations. No one thanked her or praised her. No one noticed a thing. Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go.

There was no effort. There was no struggle. It wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad. It was what it was, and it is just that. In the space of letting go, she let it all be.

A small smile came over her face. A light breeze blew through her. And the sun and the moon shone forevermore.

Rev. Safire Rose

I also love this clip from the children’s movie Frozen. She is brave and strong and over apologising for herself! Worth a few minutes to listen to the lyrics.

Please join me 19-21 October at beautiful Killcare Beach for a connected, warm and inspiring retreat right at the beach and only 1.5 hours north of Sydney. Click here to find out more info and to secure your space.

Phenomenal Woman

by MAYA ANGELOU

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.

I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size

But when I start to tell them,

They think I’m telling lies.

I say,

It’s in the reach of my arms,

The span of my hips,

The stride of my step,

The curl of my lips.

I’m a woman

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,

That’s me.

Uplift – what’s it all about?

Uplift – what’s it all about?

Uplift – what’s it all about?

I was enjoying a beautiful brunch down at Aromas in Terrigal on Easter Monday with long time and dear girlfriend Michelle, and we ended up chatting, tea sipping and eating for 3 hours!

On the way home, I felt so great after spending such real and quality time with such a close friend and I started daydreaming as I drove home. I began wondering about the colour of my moods. My mood goes up and down, much like everyone else’s I suppose, but when my mood is high and I feel great, my whole life seems to work better. Some moods are like coloured balloons drifting up into the sky, some are dark and heavy and others are a bit “meh” or in-between.

So, I pondered, how do I generate the feeling of joy, gratitude and wellbeing more often? And what is that feeling called anyway? Could I create an experience that would generate more of it? How?

Before long, I started dreaming about an event. Why keep this to myself? Let’s share the love!

At first I thought I would do something that would ‘raise my vibration’ but then I thought, what is that and is it even a proper thing? I know what I mean when I say that, but would others? So I played with words in  my head. Raise up? Lighten up? Joy?…. Uplift? Yes. That was it!

I want to dance and move in meditation with gratitude while exploring life vision and in good company as we all feel uplifted in body, mind and spirit. Yes that is it I thought.

So it all came spilling out. I spent the next 3 hours developing the program outline, listening to music, searching for images, enquiring about venues and getting really excited about it all!  I knew how I wanted to feel and I drew on my experience as a teacher (and student) over the last 30 years and chose all the best bits so that you can feel that way too. Joy!

By the time my darling husband and business partner arrived home, it was done (well in my head anyway). If he was planning to argue with me about it, he had no hope. He came straight on board.

It’s a funny thing about life. Once I get excited about a new project, the very next thing that happens is my fear comes up to bite me. Will anyone come? Maybe it’s a crap idea? Maybe I’m the only one who thinks it’s a good idea? On and on the doubts and fears start rolling in.  I suspect this is why so many great inspirations never make it past the idea stage. It has certainly been this way for me in the past.

But not this time! I am backing myself, I am good to go. Even in the face of fear! And when I do feel scared or doubtful, I simply play the song  below and do a bit of shoulder and hand dancing, which uplifts me and reminds me of why I created this event in the first place (wait for the chorus).

Vika and Linda – House of Love.

So Uplift has taken shape. Facebook posts and blogs are on their way. Room hire has been paid for (eek commitment) and my fear is mostly abating. This day will happen. People are booking in! What a joy.

So do you want to come and join in the fun? If your fear is stopping you, I totally get it, but just this once, maybe you could follow your heart and jump in anyway.  I did! And I am happy that I did. I hope to see you there. Here are some details to help you decide.

What is Nataraj Meditation anyway?

What is Nataraj Meditation anyway?

Nataraj meditation? Is it as weird and wonderful as it sounds?

Nataraja comes from ancient Sanskrit and means  “the lord of dance” and is a depiction of the Hindu god Shiva as the cosmic ecstatic dancer.

The contemporary form of Nataraj Meditation, which we will practice on the Uplift – Special One Day Event, is all about the energy of dance. This practice uses dance as a meditation, where all inner separation may dissolve leaving a subtle, relaxed awareness in its place.

Having participated in many of these meditations in my life, I have to say that it is a very special experience and not one that  you can find out there easily without going to India!

Osho, who was one of the teachers who brought this meditation to the West last century said, “Forget the dancer, the centre of the ego; become the dance. That is the meditation. Dance so deeply that you forget completely that ‘you’ are dancing and begin to feel that you are the dance. The division must disappear; then it becomes a meditation.

“If the division is there, then it is an exercise: good, healthy, but it cannot be said to be spiritual. It is just a simple dance. Dance is good in itself – as far as it goes it is good. After it, you will feel fresh, young. But it is not meditation yet. The dancer must go, until only the dance remains…. Don’t stand aside, don’t be an observer. Participate!

“And be playful. Remember the word playful always – with me it is very basic.” Osho

If you are worried that this is some hippy, interpretive dance scenario, then rest assured. It is just a movement meditation. It is aimed at offering you an inner experience where your eyes will be, for the most part, closed. You can choose to move with the music in any way that works for you. It is not about comparing dance styles or feeling embarassed. It is an internal process. It is not about being on a ‘dance floor’ like in a disco or at a party. It is about an experience of yourself as you move to the music.

You will either enjoy the exercise and gain the benefits of movement or you may experience the deeper meditative state that sometimes happens. Even though you do not interact with others, dancing in a group also adds to the experience and energy.

Here’s how it works in practice:

The meditation has three stages, lasting a total of 65 minutes.

First Stage: 40 minutes

With eyes closed, dance or move in any way that feels good to you to as you allow yourself to be swept up in the beautiful music. Let your unconscious take over completely. Do not try control your movements or witness what is happening. Just be totally in the dance. Slow down or speed up at will. Just keep moving even if you slow down.

Second Stage: 20 minutes

The music stops. Keeping your eyes closed, lie down immediately. You may cover yourself with a small blanket to prevent getting cold. Be silent and still.

Third Stage: 5 minutes

As the music commences again, dance in celebration and enjoy.

The benefits are physical and mental as you move the body and clear your lymph system with movement which may be accompanied by a sense of uplift and expansiveness mentally from flooding your body with all the happy chemicals produced when you move and feel pleasure.

If you have always wanted to try it out or if this appeals to you, then please come and join us for this wonderful event.
